Alex De Simoni is a Valtellina-born pianist, accordionist and composer whose musical identity sits at a rare intersection, between folk memory and contemporary composition, between improvisation and rigorous craft. Active for years on the Italian music scene both as a soloist and in a long list of professional collaborations, he has composed for dance, theatre, painting and narrative projects, and taught piano and accordion at the Civica Scuola di Musica of Sondrio province.
As the founder and frontman of Circo Abusivo, he spent years touring across Italy and Europe with a band that mixed accordion, brass, strings and voice into something that defied classification. Balkan, folk punk, tango, world music, all played with the energy of a collective that knew exactly what it was doing. That project alone built a reputation that has followed him through every subsequent chapter.
His solo work, intimate, contemplative, built around accordion, piano and the spaces between notes, has taken him from alpine churches to historic palazzos, from Cadore to Switzerland. He creates performances that do not simply fill a room but listen to it first.
